DMW Launches Mobile App

The Department of Migrant Workers and President Marcos Jr. have launched the mobile app. It aims to streamline the process of processing and obtaining documents. According to Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the app replaces the traditional Overseas Employment Certificates (OEC).

At its launching in Malacañan, President Marcos emphasized that the app marked a significant chapter in his administration's commitment to OFWs and direction towards government efficiency, digitalization, and accessibility.

“This app will revolutionize how OFWs access services such as verifying their contracts and applying for OFW pass. Gone are the days when OFWs had to endure long queues to obtain certification.” Marcos said. The President thanked the DMW, DICT and BI for making entering and exiting easier for OFWs.

Features

The Mobile app allows OFWS to access their info and apply for OEC. This simplifies the process and removes the need to queue at Migrant Workers' Offices (MWO) - formerly known as POLO-OWWA. With the DMW, users can keep a digital OEC and download it for free. According to Ople, President Marcos aims to make the OEC free of charge, whereas currently, OFWs have to pay 100 PHP for it.

Other features include a directory of contact info, a helpline from consulates and embassies and info to maintain info on passports & employment contract details. Upon successful registration, users will receive an E-registration number or lifetime ERN. The app is free and will be further integrated into another PH government app, e-Gov PH.

Timeline

The DMW app is still under pilot testing in which DMW chose 10 countries: Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Taiwan, UK, and Singapore. During the initial phase, OFWs can still use the old process of obtaining OEC at eRegistration or POPSBAM (POEA Online Processing System for Balik-Manggagawa). After the test phase, the DMW app will have its complete features. The government agency also advised OFWs to watch out for updates on its social media page and website.
